Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (or TRE®) is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr David Berceli, PhD, TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension (neurogenic tremors), calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance (and stopping the build-up of harmful stress hormones). This is not just for deep-rooted trauma, this is a go-to tool to help cope with everyday life events. Best of all, our bodies do the work - we get relief without needing to process or retell a story.
